Bible Four Seasons Lakol
zman va'et tachat To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, A time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, A time to break down, A time to weep A time to mourn A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to seek A time to keep A time to rend, A time to keep silence, A time to love, A time for war, May this be a time of peace for all of us. Seven Species "For the Lord your G-d is bringing you unto a good land, ... a land of wheat and barley and vines, of fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey.…" (Deut. 8:7-9) Noah The story of Noah, first told in the Torah, is common to three major religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Several important symbols come out of this story. The dove brings an olive branch to Noah, indicating that the flood waters have receded. Both dove and olive branch are important symbols of peace. The rainbow represents the covenant that G‑d made with Noah, promising that there would never again be a flood of waters to destroy the earth. The seven colors of the rainbow represent the seven Noahide laws; those who obey these laws, whether Jewish or not, are guaranteed salvation in the world to come. |
